Adding a Repair Type to your Account
Maintaining accurate Repair Types ensures your customers can choose the right service, your techs are matched to the right jobs, and your system has the data it needs to optimize assignments and repair timelines automatically.
Who this is for:
Admins or shop owners who manage which repair services appear to end customers in the Service Order Request Hub and want to make sure the platform routes the right techs to the right jobs automatically.
What you’ll learn:
-
How to add and organize repair types (service offerings)
-
How to edit or archive existing ones
-
How to set Estimated Repair Times (min–max)
-
How repair types connect to technician skill tags and dispatch logic
-
How to choose the right icons that appear in customer requests
Why it matters:
Repair Types are more than a customer-facing menu — they’re the backbone of how MetaFleet automates scheduling, dispatching, and job accuracy.
Each Repair Type includes Estimated Repair Times (minimum and maximum duration). These values directly feed into dispatch timing, workload balancing, and labor forecasting, helping the platform plan the day for you instead of the other way around.
They also serve as technician skill tags. When your techs are assigned specific skill sets, MetaFleet’s logic uses those Repair Type tags to match jobs to the right technician automatically — reducing back-and-forth, preventing mis-assignments, and speeding up turnaround.
Keeping this list accurate ensures:
-
Customers can clearly describe and select the right service.
-
Dispatchers get precise ETAs based on real job duration data.
-
The system can intelligently route work to the best-fit technician.
-
Your operation gets smarter with every job logged.
Before you start:
-
You’ll need Admin permissions to access Platform Settings.
-
Have a list of your standard services with time ranges ready (e.g., “Brake Inspection: 30–60 minutes”).
-
Decide which icon best represents each service type — customers will see these in the request hub.
